Tofu Stew / Braised Tofu (두부조림)

Savory side dish with Tofu! It tastes the best when you eat it hot, with white steaming rice. If you like Tofu, you should try this out👀

Ingredients
300g (1 block) Tofu
1 Onion
1/2 Green Onion
Neutral Oil
2T Soy Sauce
1T Oyster Sauce (*It’s optional for the vegan people but for others, i recommend to put)
2t Sugar (or preferred sweetener)
1/2T Minced Garlic
1T Red Chili powder
Sesame oil
Toasted Sesame Seeds
Directions
Prepare the ingredients
Slice 1 small block of Tofu (300g) into four sections, then into 1cm thick pieces. Season with Salt and Pepper, and fry in a pan with Oil until golden brown. While frying, thinly slice 1 Onion and diagonally slice Green Onions (and Chili Peppers if desired). Once the tofu is done, remove it from the pan.
2. Cook it all together
In the same pan, add Oil and sauté the prepared vegetables. Pour 2 tbsp Soy Sauce over the vegetables and let it simmer. Before it sticks, add 1 tbsp Oyster Sauce, 1/2 tbsp Oligosaccharide (or Allose), 1/2 tbsp Minced Garlic, and 1 tbsp Red Chili Powder (Gochugaru). It is important to stir quickly over medium-low heat so the chili powder does not burn.
Simmer and Finish
Place the fried tofu over the vegetables and pour in enough Water to submerge the tofu halfway. Cover with a lid and simmer, stirring occasionally and gently so the tofu does not break or stick to the bottom. Once the sauce has thickened and soaked into the tofu, turn off the heat and drizzle Sesame Oil for aroma. Transfer to a plate and finish with Toasted Sesame Seeds.
